I went to see for myself after work, and after reading this piece. I saw you in the water. And understand why you do it - it was absolutely mesmerising! Thank you for bringing it to my awareness.

Those images are brilliant Finn. I especially like the image with the helter skelter!!! It must be amazing to have the birds literally fly over you, we have a couple of murmurations at present in GY but they are in town, nonetheless it is fascinating to watch. I have been lucky enough to hear that swoop sound whilst out and about in the broads, one of nature's marvels.

Thanks Jon, really appreciate it. It’s quite a silly place to try and take pictures from, but the view of the murmuration feels really unique and immersive. Very addictive.

Fabulous shots! I like your (physical) perspective too—with blurred water in the foreground.

Thanks Mike. It’s a really fun perspective to see it all from. Makes a good change from standing on the beach or the pier.

Amazing images Finn and I love the film at the end.

Starling murmurations are amazing to witness, just the sound of all those wings. I have seen a few in Somerset but can only imagine the extra level of magic that must come with seeing a murmuration from the water.

Thanks Gill. I hope the video gives some idea of the feeling of being there under it all. An addictive winter pursuit.

Amazing! Beautiful photos. I just accidentally captured an amazing murmuration on video a week ago - and it had such a response. I wrote a couple of articles on it, but honestly it's hard to put into words. However, I think you described it perfectly.

Beautiful images Finn! What an amazing feeling to be fully immersed in their dance looking up from the sea - I'm part envious and part relieved that I'm too sensible to get into that ice cold water to get a photograph! :-)

Thanks Lin. I’ll do the swimming so you don’t have to!
